Company Verdict: Which One Has the Edge?

Customer Service

Edge: Pumpkin

Spot does not have customer service availability on weekends, and all claims are handled by Crum and Forster Insurance Agency, the providers of Spot Pet Insurance.

Pumpkin also uses a third-party for billing, claims, and customer service. Like Spot, customers cannot contact customer service on the weekends. They are not available.

We think Pumpkin has the edge over Spot since the Trustpilot reviews for Pumpkin were a 4.7 versus Spot at a 4.3.

Price of Plans

Edge: Spot

Spot is our choice when it comes to price, although the costs are the same for policies that have similar coverage. Spot, on the other hand, has a broader range of options available. The choices allow for lower premiums. The accident-only option is also a budget-friendly way to insure your pet for the unexpected.

The 90% reimbursement and fewer options offered by Pumpkin make it less budget-friendly.

Areas of Coverage

Edge: Spot

Spot offers an unlimited coverage option. Pumpkin does not. If you have ever been in a dire situation with your pet, you know the importance of peace of mind. Sitting in a waiting room knowing your pet has the best treatment available can be priceless. Spot has the edge for this option if it is affordable for you.

Edge: Spot

Spot also gets the edge for perks. The customizable coverages, 24/7 pet helpline, accident-only option, price, and the multi-pet discount make them a winner. Spot gives its customers the ability to ensure their pets get the care they need and deserve at a price that fits their budget. That’s a win-win.

If you are looking for options that are affordable, Spot is the pet insurance company for you. With reimbursement, deductible, and limit options, you can’t go wrong. For tight budgets, the accident-only option is priceless in a situation that is emergent. For households that have more than one pet, the discount is an added benefit. The 24/7 vet helpline can also provide you with valuable information that may save your pet’s life. If you are in the market for pet insurance, Spot may be the one for you. We think it’s a winner.
